Happy Birthday to us
This September UniTEFL celebrates its 4th Birthday. We’ve come a long way, now the second largest TEFL trainer in Chiang Mai (based on number of foreign students enrolled in programs) and the only one offering credit bearing university courses in Northern Thailand.
In fact the team has been together quite a bit longer than that and can boast some 700 ESL teachers trained, now working all over the world. We’ve forged a very reputable brand, allied with TEFL International which recently gained accreditation status from Fort Hays University in the United States.
From humble beginnings we’ve steadily improved, moving twice to find ideal premises and adding to the team which now include Pete Bartolomy as head trainer, Judy Siegel as assistant trainer and program co-ordinator, Kim Upara who oversees recruitment and enrolment, Arda Phansurin at reception and Play Limsiritrakul taking care of accounts. In the background, also helping out are Dr Rosemary Undag, our associate director of studies and senior partners Andrew and Lek Bond. Another central member of the team who regrettably had to leave us was Susan Hover, whom most of you are quite familiar with. She’s returning to the US, and we wish her well.
In early 2013 we launched UniThai, classes in Thai language which we manage on behalf of CEC school. Later that year we kicked off the first semester of studies for post graduate degrees and diplomas for the Philippine Women’s University in the Philippines, adminstering these online programs in Thailand for the benefit of Filipinos based here.
Now in 2014 we are pleased to bring on board a second university, New Era, for whom we will be administering their Certificate in Professional Teaching (CPT), a teaching diploma open to all nationalities wishing to study online and take exams locally. The first semester begins in late October.
Despite ups and downs in Thailand, we have managed to mature and grow, providing a quality TEFL certification that includes a job placement plan at completion. We proudly go that extra mile, along with organising all 6 teaching practicums in real Thai schools. Few other TEFL trainers go to such effort.
Recently we also launched a number of TEFL course variations, ranging from the Silver package which is an innovative hybrid that presents the theory online, so you only need come to Chiang Mai for 2 weeks to complete the required practicums. In addition to the standard 120 hour TEFL (Gold) we now also have a Platinum package, which includes accommodation, airport transfer and three fun-filled culture and adventure excursions on weekends.
At UniTEFL we strive to provide a value added experience, maintaining standards in education while providing satisfaction during your one month training. We look forward to growing further during the next four years.
